Rev. Robert Scoon Scolarship

HISTORY

Reverend Robert Scoon and his wife, Carole, arrived in Wiarton in 1956 where he was the Anglican minister until 1961. During that period of time, they built a cottage on Cranberry Island in Oliphant in 1961 that his family has enjoyed in all of the years since. Rev. Scoon continued his preaching at the Oliphant Campers' Church until his passing in 2006. During those many years, Rev. Scoon shared his passion for ministry, education and local causes with the many that came to know him. On his passing. the church leadership made the decision to create a scholarship in his name to further his goal of education for the young people that reside in and around our beautiful community. Since the inception of the program, the Scholarship Program has awarded a total of $17 000 in awards to many well deserving students.

We're inviting support from the members of the Oliphant Campers' Church and the Oliphant Campers' Association in two ways:

  • By providing the names and contact information of eligible young people.
  • By helping to continue the expansion of the fund through donations, contributions and memorial pledges.
